Julie Philip

Paintings

Julie Philip is a Gippsland girl at heart. Born in Yallourn and later living in Moe and Newborough, she grew up in a creative environment, developing an early love for artistic expression through music, writing, painting and sculpture.

Julie’s work is deeply personal, drawing on memories, experiences and the emotions that come with a life well lived. The places she has travelled, the people she has met, and the moments of both joy and challenge all influence her creative process.

Working primarily with acrylics, Julie is drawn to the freedom and versatility the medium offers, particularly its ability to be used across a range of surfaces. She enjoys manipulating paint to build tactile layers and textures.

“The layers and textures in my works represent our emotional layers; how we can feel many things at the same time, while connecting to the now and what’s been.”

“Life is messy… it’s one big wondrous mess with all the feels that push me to create.”
